1957
The beginning
It was through the "vision" of Manuel Monteiro, a young businessman from the capital who already had several years' experience in the field of ocular optics, that the Valbom Optician in Cascais was opened... once simply the "Cascais Optician".
Its aim came from a simple premise: there was no offer of this type of service and anyone who wanted to access it would have to travel to the major center of Lisbon.
1959
The second adventure
The second store opened in Estoril, also simply called "Oculista do Estoril", initially located on Avenida Marginal, in an iconic building with a small turret, just uphill from the train station.
This store catered for a somewhat select clientele, since it was the late 1950s, a historical period when the Costa do Sol was home to some of Europe's elite, and when the Casino do Estoril was known for having inspired the adventures of James Bond, created by Ian Fleming, a British spy who was a frequent user.
1977
After twenty years of pioneering in this area of activity, other competing opticians appeared, at which point it was decided to name the stores after the place where it all began, on Av.
Valbom, in Cascais, and was renamed "Oculista Valbom".
Eleven years later, the opportunity arose to collaborate with the Optivisão brand, of which it was one of the founding opticians and which quickly became the largest Portuguese optical group, so Oculista Valbom felt that this would bring more quality and a wider range of products and services to its customers, which it did and with a partnership that continues to this day.

Oculista Valbom offers premium items and advanced services in ocular optics and primary eye care.
In the store, we display, advise and sell articles and accessories, and make prescriptions for prescription glasses using modern technology and a tradition of "know-how".
In the consulting rooms, we carry out vision examinations, contact lens fittings, eye pressure measurements, visual field analysis, ocular fundus examination, corneal topographies, orthoptic sessions and visual training.
Under the management of Miguel Monteiro, son of founder Manuel Monteiro, we maintain high standards of quality in the service and products sold, with technical and aesthetic support, aiming for total customer satisfaction.
