Office Services
Because your visual well-being is our main concern, at Oculista Valbom we have professionals with advanced training ready to welcome you and help you with all the necessary devices. All so that you can see with quality and comfort.
Optometric examinations
The optometric examination is the test where your entire vision is analyzed.
It is carried out by an optometrist with the aim of identifying the motor, sensory and functional state of the visual system and obtaining information on how to compensate for any refractive defects found.
This compensation can be done by prescribing lenses or other types of ocular prostheses, or by referring the patient to the necessary specialist: psychologist, ophthalmologist, occupational therapist, general practitioner, neurologist, among others.
Optometrists do not use any medication or techniques that are invasive to the human body.
All the equipment used is observational and aimed at quantitative and qualitative assessment of the state of vision.
They are also prepared to recognize pathological visual alterations and, in these cases, refer them to a medical professional, thus carrying out their preventive work.
Examinations and tests for fitting, supplying and checking contact lenses
Visual examination and analysis of ocular characteristics – tear quality, general condition of the corneal surface and the entire anterior segment of the eyeball and eyelids.
Technical and functional advice – analysis of the patient’s needs and expectations and search for solutions.
Practical tests with lenses to assess tolerance, ocular reactions, vision achieved, functionality and general acceptance.
Complete training in the handling (putting in, taking out, cleaning…) and maintenance of contact lenses.
Subsequent follow-up appointments to monitor adaptation – constant support.
Orthoptics / Visual training - evaluations and tests
A set of techniques that identify and assess vision anomalies related to eye movement and their reflection in deviations from correct binocular vision, with a view to motor rehabilitation and functional re-education of this movement.
It is applied, for example, to amblyopia, strabismus, convergence insufficiencies, diplopia and heterophoria.
Orthoptists work in diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation.
Computerized assessment/measurement of visual fields
The term “visual field” refers to the entire area that is visible to each of an individual’s eyes, when they are fixed on a certain point.
There are various eye abnormalities that cause a progressive loss of peripheral vision, until it reaches central vision.
The test to measure visual fields is called Campimetry (or Perimetry).
This test indicates the blind fields – areas where there is no longer vision – that exist in the eye.
Given that the loss of peripheral vision is irreversible and progressive, it is a very important test whenever there is a suspicion of potential Glaucoma or other ocular pathologies.
Measuring intraocular pressure
The main cause of visual field loss or reduction is Glaucoma.
Although there are several types of Glaucoma, the common and main factor in the disease is increased intraocular pressure.
Measuring intraocular pressure is a quick, non-invasive test and is recommended to be carried out routinely, as a preventative measure, or regularly, in the case of follow-up/control of pathologies that have already been diagnosed.
Corneal topographies
Detailed examination of the structure of the cornea.
Very important for detecting and monitoring corneal diseases or lesions and other local abnormalities – keratitis of various origins, keratoconus and other ectasias, etc.
Fundamental for complex contact lens fittings.
Fundus examination
Fundus examination, also known as fundoscopy or retinography, makes it possible to visualize and analyze the structures of the back of the eye, especially the retina, retinal vessels and optic nerve, allowing for complex diagnoses of the patient’s eye health.
